Boys Varsity Basketball · Cardinal Basketball Will Have Their Hands Full in Round 3 of State Playoffs

Cardinal basketball has enjoyed a run of 17 straight wins with 7 of those coming in the playoffs. Tonight at 7 pm they put that streak on the line against the San Diego Cavers in the CIF State Tournament Regional Semi-Finals at The Master’s University Bross Court.

The Cavers (24-7) are currently on an 8 game winning streak which includes winning the division 4 San Diego Section Championship 56-54 over Southwest EC. They finished second in the Central League with an 8-2 record.

The Cardinals will have their hands full with what looks to be the team with the most height and athletic ability they will have faced up to this point during the playoffs. One such Carver is 6’4” 185 pound Thomas Marcus who is a University of Arizona commit for football. Their height and athleticism have helped them win their first two state playoff games by an average of 34 points.

Head Coach James Mosley said of the Cavers, “They’re very good. They are very explosive. It will be a challenge because they are athletic.” To be successful against the Cavers Mosley pointed out, “They can shoot. We need to be focused and guard.”

On the offensive side of the ball, Mosely said, “We should get looks. We need to be ready to shoot.” He also noted the confidence he has in his team and their ability to come out on top tonight. As fans have seen all season and throughout the playoffs, the Cardinals have shown they have a deep bench with multiple players that have the ability to score in double digits.

Everyone in attendance tonight will see an exciting game. They will see a game at a much faster pace with lots of continuous action. This has been a rarity for Cardinal fans this season – this will not be the case tonight.

We look forward to seeing you tonight at 7 pm at The Master’s University Bross Gym.

Ticket prices are $9 for adults and $5 for students.
