Torrance, CA – The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team traveled to El Camino College to play Pacifica Christian in the second round of the Division 7 playoffs. The trip was well worth it as the Cardinals had a decisive 5-0 victory.
The game was another well-played defensive game for the Lady Cardinals as they only allowed four shots on goal. Senior goaltender Arianna Sonnenberg came up big by making a key save on a penalty kick late in the second half.
Offensively for the Cardinals Sydney Boswell earned a hat trick and brought her playoff goal total to 4 goals. Ellyana Edwards fell just short of a hat trick with 2 goals. That brings her playoff goal total to 3 goals.
The win advances the Cardinals to the quarterfinals. They will have home-field advantage and play the Saddleback Valley Christian Warriors this Friday (time and location has yet to be determined). The Warriors finished 15-3-1 overall and were the San Joaquin League champions with a 9-1 record.
