The Santa Clarita Christian Lady Cardinals basketball team continues to roll through the second half of their season. They are currently on a four-game winning streak and have a 4-1 record over their last five games.

On January 25, they hosted the Delphi Academy Dragons and walked away with a 46-16 victory. At the end of the first half, the Cardinals held a 16-10 lead. Freshman guard, Emily Bernards, led the first half charge, scoring 8 of her 12 points for the night. Going into the second half, the Cardinal defense tightened up. They held the Dragons to only 6 points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, they shut down the Dragons completely and did not allow another point to go on the board. The Cardinal offense did their part and erupted for 30 second-half points. Junior forward, Aaronya Crosswhite contributed 20 of those 30 points. She found her stroke from beyond the arch and hit four 3-pointers. She ended the night with a team-leading 24 points.

The next night the Cardinals traveled to Palmdale to take on the Guidance Charter Gators. They defeated the Gators 50-21. Crosswhite and Bernards again led the team in scoring for the second straight game. Crosswhite finished with 14 points and Bernards finished with 13 points. Chloe Lehman also contributed 9 points.

The Cardinals and Gators would meet for the second straight game a few nights later on January 30. The Cardinals won their fourth straight game defeating the Gators 41-33. It was another big night for Crosswhite as she dropped 24 points, which was a game and team high. Gianna Pelletier put 5 points on the board. Cassie Fawzi scored 5 points. Mary Charles contributed 4 points. Chloe Lehman rounded out the Cardinal scoring with 3 points.

The Lady Cardinals now sit with a league record of 4-3. They have three important league games remaining, including their matchup against Trinity on Saturday, February 3. Tip-off is at 4 pm and will take place at The Master’s University. Come out and support your Lady Cardinals!
