The Santa Clarita Christian School Girls Basketball has been experiencing success lately. Over the last three games, the Cardinals are 2-1.
This stretch started with a win over Aerospace Academy. It was a 41-33 victory in front of a large crowd at home. Juniors Megan Dombrowski and Aaronya Crosswhite lead the team. Anytime Dombrowski steps on the court you can count on her to play hard and hustle to the ball. If there is a battle for the ball, she usually comes out on the winning side. For Crosswhite, her ability to shoot from beyond the arch often keeps the Cardinals opponents at bay or helps rally the Lady Cardinals.
One of the highlights of the night was Freshman Gianna Pelletier. She had a break out night, scoring 24 points. That was a personal and a team season high.
The Cardinals loss came at the hands of the Trinity Knights at Master’s University, 44-30. Losing a rivalry game is hard. But, it was evident that Head Coach Dennis Schwesinger was utilizing every moment possible to build the girls up and help them learn for future games. The Knights play a tough full court press that the Cardinals struggled with early on. As the game progressed however, the Cardinals began to break through.
The Cardinals latest victory came Monday night (January 22) over Aerospace Academy by a score of 43-37. Gianna Pelletier dropped 11 points, Emily Bernards had 10 points, and Aaronya rounded off the top scorers with 8 points.
The Cardinals next game is against Delphi Academy this Thursday at 3:30 in the SCCS gym. For a complete listing of the Lady Cardinals basketball schedule CLICK HERE.
