Girls Varsity Volleyball · Cardinal Volleyball Sweeps Their Way To Victory

August 25, 2017

Santa Clarita, CA

Cardinal volleyball starts their 2017 campaign off with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, and 26-24) victory over Providence High of Burbank. The first game remained close until Machado made a huge block to give the Cardinals a 19-18 advantage and they never looked back after that. The second game again was tight, but with superior serves from Marr and dominance at the net by Crosswhite and Dombrowski they again pulled away to victory. Going into the third game Providence came out swinging and looked as though they would force a fourth game. Down 24-22 the Cardinals fought back and secured sweep winning 26-24.

Head coach Darcy Brown was pleased with her team’s performance, “We capitalized on a lot…we were aggressive on our serves, aggressive on our offense, and we played solid defense.” She went on to say, “Our blocking made a huge difference which affected the way the other team hit. Coach Brown also loved the student section, aka “The Red C”. They brought an electric, playoff like atmosphere to the game, and helped energize the Lady Cardinals.

Up next the Cardinals play Tuesday, August 29, against Grace Brethren of Simi Valley.
